This is one of our most versatile fiber products — an open-weave, bleached cotton that stretches in every direction, not just lengthwise like cheesecloth. That two-way stretch is what makes it so good for sculpture work: it moves and drapes the way fabric actually should.

Dip it in Powertex Universal Medium, squeeze out the excess, and use it to dress figurines or add texture to any mixed media project. Stretch it around an armature to create clothing for your fiber or fabric sculptures, or pull it until it just starts to tear for a gorgeous open-weave effect — it's how you get those tattered, wispy angel wings that look like they're falling apart in the most beautiful way.

For shaping while it dries, tuck a wad of plastic wrap underneath the wet fabric to hold a fold or curve, then remove it once everything's set. And don't rush the shaping — let the fabric start to dry and stiffen a little, then come back and refine the folds before it sets completely.

What you can do with it:

• Dress figurines or sculptures in stretched, draped clothing
• Pull to the point of tearing for open-weave, tattered effects like angel wings
• Add texture and form to any mixed media project

• Dip in Universal Medium and squeeze out the excess before working
• Use a plastic wrap wad underneath to hold shape while it dries, then remove once set
• Let it start to stiffen, then come back and refine the shape before it fully dries
