Powertex Universal Medium Transparent is the one medium that ties your whole art table together. Brush it onto fabric, paper, wood, leather, or sand and watch an absorbent surface turn firm and fully sculptable — it's the foundation nearly everything else in the Powertex line is built to work with.
Mix it with any of our texture powders — Stone Art, Easy 3Dflex, or Powersmooth — to build your own custom texture pastes and air-dry clays. 3D Balls & Sand are porous too, so they blend in beautifully for extra dimension. And every one of our fibers hardens and holds shape once it's coated in Universal Medium — it's genuinely the thread that runs through the whole studio.
This medium is non-toxic, low in odor, and safe for mixed media work of every kind. Universal Medium Transparent is also available in 1000g and 5000g sizes.
What you can do with it:
- Harden and shape fabric, paper, and natural fibers
- Mix with texture powders to make your own air-dry clay
- Use as a glue to bond absorbent materials
- Paint or brush directly onto your project
Tips:
- Stir before use
- Combine colors or add pigments for custom tones — our full line of Universal Medium colors can also be mixed together to create nearly any color on the wheel
- Transparent looks milky while wet but dries clear, letting the color and pattern beneath show through
Heads up: Transparent isn't UV resistant — add a UV inhibitor varnish before displaying a piece in direct sunlight.

- Mix Thoroughly: Before use, stir with a paint stick or dowel. Shake to evenly distribute any settled pigments.
- Make Air-Dry clay: Mix Universal Medium with Stone Art or Easy 3D Flex.
- Customize colors: Mix Powertex Universal Medium colors together or with pigments or colorants to create custom colors for your projects.
- Seal Finished Projects: Seal your completed Powertex projects with a varnish or sealer for added durability and protection.
