Collection: Powertex Water-Based Bisters & Colors

Have you ever wanted a piece to look like it's been around for a hundred years? That's what Bister does.

Bister is a water-based colorant, like a tinted walnut ink. Spray or brush it over a light Universal Medium base (Ivory is my favorite), and it flows into every fold, crack, and recess, deepening the shadows and leaving the high points light. A flat coat of paint can't do that.

• Bister Spray Inks are ready to use. Just spray and watch it settle.
• Bister powder is concentrated granules. Mix with distilled water for your own spray strength, or sprinkle dry onto wet Universal Medium for organic texture.
• Brown Patina comes in larger bottles for the artists who reach for it on every piece.
• Liquidpower colors add bright liquid color to your mixed media work.

Bister reacts with water and isn't permanent on its own. When you love the effect, seal it with Easy Varnish or transparent Universal Medium, or mix your Bister with Powderfix before you apply it. Grab a fine-mist spray bottle while you're here, and try the Bister sample kit if you'd like to play with every color.
