Introducing Powertex Powderfix: the innovative powdered binder designed to secure water-soluble pigments in your creations.
Powertex Powderfix Binder is a powdered binder designed to make water-based color more permanent. A binder is the part that makes your color stay put. It bonds the pigment particles and holds them on the surface instead of letting them wash away. When you add Powderfix to water-based inks, watercolors, or pigments, your color becomes more durable and more water-resistant after it dries.
Use the drop-down menu below to view mixing instructions.
Pair it seamlessly with Liquidpower and/or Bister for enhanced effects.
For added versatility, incorporate Powderfix with other powder pigments from Powertex.
Also available in smaller 20g jar.
What it does for you
• Helps water-based color stick to paper, canvas, wood, and more
• Reduces lifting and bleeding when you add more wet layers
• Makes your work more durable once dry
• Works with Powertex pigments, Bister, Liquidpower, and other water-based inks and sprays
• Can also be used as a clear setting spray over finished work
Use it as a setting spray
If you mix only Powderfix and distilled water, no pigment, you get a clear binder spray.
- Spray it lightly over dry watercolors, inks, or water-based sprays.
- This helps set the color and makes it more water-resistant.
Good to know
- Let each layer dry before adding more wet media.
- Test on a scrap first. Surfaces and papers vary.
- You can adjust the strength by using a little more or less water.
Unleash your creativity and explore endless possibilities by experimenting with different ratios and colors. With Powertex Powderfix, your artistic visions know no bounds.

- Add the rest of your liquid. Mix again until smooth.
Basic mixing ratio

- 100 ml, about 3.5 oz, of distilled water or liquid ink
Mixing with dry pigments
- Add about 2 teaspoons of Powderfix to your dry pigment.
- Add a small amount of distilled water first and mix until the powder dissolves.
- Add more water to reach about 100 ml total.
- Shake or stir well before each use.
